Lo and behold, Sting and Trudie Styler are selling their New York City “apartment,” and maybe throwing in a washer and dryer to help you get started.

Rumored to go for $26 million, the home, located at the Brentmore complex at Central Park West, is now selling for $19 million. Featuring 6,600 square feet of space, 18 rooms including a butler’s pantry and a large music room, French doors, and a panoramic view of Central Park, the apartment is just what you need: a humble space for storing your paperwork.

The most noteworthy feature of the apartment is a “bordello red bedroom,” which is, I assume, where Sting enacts the 78 sacred points of the Tantra every day while Trudie clangs together wine glasses and cackles. Sometimes you just prefer a home that feels lived in! Bring new sheets though. Please.

Apparently Mischa Barton wasn’t the only one with her sights set on the CW’s makeover of “Melrose Place.”

Word comes today that Ashlee Simpson will be appearing on the updated version of Aaron Spelling’s ’90s soap. She is reportedly playing Violet, a naive transplant to L.A. who uses her sexual prowess for evil (that’s totally Sydney, right?). Katie Cassidy and Michael

Rady have also signed on, and there are rumors that mama bear Heather Locklear will be returning to reprise her
role as Amanda. The new season is reportedly set to begin next fall.

An Inconvenient Truth director Davis Guggenheim is also rumored to have been tapped to direct the pilot. Woah! So what kind of scenes can we expect for Violet’s character in the episode pilot with Guggenheim at the helm? Let’s imagine:

–Violet gets off a hybrid fuel bus, takes a deep breath, and says to herself: “This is the first day of the rest of your environmentally conscious life, Violet. Now go entrap someone in a relationship by claiming you’re pregnant.”

–Violet calls the building’s superintendent (who will play Michael Mancini?) and asks how on earth she’s supposed replace her air conditioning filters. He is charmed by her naivete and sexuality, so he tries to kill her.

–To help absorb carbon dioxide, Violet plants a sugar maple tree in the apartment complex’s courtyard just like she had in her front yard back in St. Paul. Everyone laughs because a sugar maple tree likely won’t survive in Southern California, but are impressed by how sexily it was planted.

In the look book, models pose with plastic dinosaurs, walk pink puppy toys, stand at attention next to shopping carts filled with groceries, and stare into the blinded eyes of a gigantic stuffed bunny. Some are wearing tangerine-colored spectacles. Other muses are styled to resemble modern Bridgette Bardots on their day off. Despite the quirky use of color, there’s something eerie about the whole vibe that meshes well with each of the outfits. The more we get to see of Elizabeth and James, the more we are forced to admit that the Olsen girls do know what they’re doing. We’re fainting at the price points, naturally, but in theory, we give the new MK&A a yay.

New York‘s The Cut has been noticing the Times‘ ongoing obsession with Michelle Obama’s arms for awhile now, and interestingly, it hasn’t even hit the Fashion & Style pages yet. First, the Caucus blog wrote about Michelle’s penchant for sleeveless dresses, which not only flatter her, but “seem like a reminder of everything about her we can’t see.” Then, over the weekend, Maureen Dowd got on board with a column dedicated to the topic:

The only bracing symbol of American strength right now is the image of
Michelle Obama’s sculpted biceps. Her husband urges bold action, but it
is Michelle who looks as though she could easily wind up and punch out
Rush Limbaugh, Bernie Madoff and all the corporate creeps who ripped
off America.

While we agree with Dowd that her confidence is both beautiful and admirable, we wonder why Michelle’s arms have suddenly become a

modern socio-political replacement for the Hemline Index. Are we really being told to judge America’s domestic strength and foreign influence on the covering and uncovering of her biceps? The Gray Lady isn’t the only who seems to think so. This week, The New Yorker‘s biannual style issue hits newsstands, and features a Michelle Obama cover and — you guessed it — “an ode to her arms by The Washington Post‘s Robin Givhan, which
runs alongside a shot of Obama-favored designers Jason Wu and Thakoon
Panichgul,” according to WWD.

Johnny Wujek is one such in-demand stylist. He’s the man behind the looks of Kate Mara, Amber Heard, Bryce Dallas-Howard, Rachel Taylor and, most notably, singer Katy Perry (who he’s been with since the beginning).

In this exclusive interview, Johnny dishes on clothes, Katy and his new venture: women’s shoe designer.

What’s Katy’s style inspiration?
JW: I can’t pin point a certain style that we strive for, as it goes from
Old Hollywood glam, to a quirky costume, to studded rocker, to a bunny
costume. She loves color, she loves to be different, and she loves to take chances.

Take us through the process of choosing an outfit for Katy.

JW: Katy and I constantly talk about upcoming events she has, performances, videos, etc. We are always swapping photos, sketches and inspiration. An event will come up, her and I will discuss, I’ll pull and send requests, she’ll of course put in her five cents, and we’ll have a fitting and the best dress will win.

Favorite Red Carpet Outfit?

JW: The Monster eyes dress by Jean Charles De Castelbajac that Katy wore at the European Video Music Awards in Liverpool, England.

What was the inspiration behind the outfit?

JW: To scare everyone and to let them know we were watching them. No, just kidding. We were in the UK, wanted to do something different and be silly. She looked beautiful in it and she made people smile.

What’s your best Red Carpet moment?

JW: Definitely the Grammys. We were working to have something custom made for the red carpet but it didn’t work out, so when I met up with Basil Soda (Lebanese designer), I saw the dress she ended up wearing and ripped it off of the mannequin. I was so surprised that no one had taken it yet. And in the end, she looked SO beautiful. Best dressed everywhere. We almost made a dress that looked like a watermelon. So glad we went with a beautiful glamour look. She was extremely happy.

I’ve been hearing rumors that you’re designing a women’s shoe line. Is this true?

JW: Yes, I’ve designed two small collections for a brand out of Montreal, but come Fall 2010 it’s just the JOHNNY WUJEK show. I’m going to design a full women’s fall line (flats, heels, boots, etc). Gotta make it perfect.

What is the inspiration behind the line?

JW: The ultimate treat for every women. I want to make shoes that are comfortable for sure, beautiful to look at, and affordable no matter what walk of life you come from. Total play on words. Love it.

Why women’s shoes?

JW: A. I have a women’s shoe fetish. B. I have a women’s shoes fetish. C. Everyone buys shoes.

Interior decorator Jonathan Adler has created a real life Malibu Barbie Dream House. And it’s glorious.

For Barbie’s 50th anniversary (she looks amazing, right?) Adler was commissioned by Mattel to transform an actual Malibu mansion into a hot pink palace of eight-year-old girls’ fantasies come alive. While there aren’t any tables made out of those plastic things that come on pizzas, Adler did install wall-to-wall pink carpeting in Barbie’s room. There’s also an original Andy Warhol of the fair-haired icon, and a chandelier made of blond wigs designed by Chris March from season 4 of “Project Runway.”

Additionally, fifty, archless, candy pink peep-toe heels line a walk-in closet where stupid Skipper is forced to sleep, and there’s a kitchen stocked with ingredients for making cupcakes.

And good news, Barbieheads: Most of Adler’s pieces will be shipped to the Palms Casino Resort in Vegas to decorate a Barbie Suite they have in the works. We want to go to there.

You’ll notice the heels on these threads don’t touch the ground. That doesn’t matter because you’re powered by 1) your love of T-Rex, 2) spooky runway music, and 3) good old-fashioned terror. Misstep and you topple for years! Teehee! Rest the ball of your foot and you collapse like a broken marionette! Complain about it and Tyra‘s pissed! You’re trapped in leathery glam hell and we won’t let you go until the shoes are appeased. And they growl too, so we’ll know when that is.

These shows (weighted at the toe, luckily) also add ELEVEN inches of height to the wearer. Finally, Dakota Fanning can strut, vindicated, at 6’1.

Ooh la la! A trailer for the Coco Chanel bio pic, Coco avant Chanel, starring Audrey Tautou as a young Coco has surfaced, and although it’s all in French–without any of the designer’s iconic quilted leather or little black dresses to speak of– it looks pretty awesome. (It’s about her life before Chanel). Plus, Tautou really resembles a young Coco, don’t you think?

It appears that the movie focuses on the designer’s early career, before she reached her great success, which, we have to say, is better–let’s let Shirley MacLaine’s recent portrayal of an older Chanel in Lifetime mini-series “Coco Chanel” go unsullied. Though MacLaine strangely has zero trace of a French accent, she did give the LA Times this fabulous quote about the designer:

“She never
married. She was rude, hurtful. Many men were in love with her — though I don’t know why, because she was impossible. She was 73 when she got so popular, and she was always reinventing herself. I like that.”

The movie’s not due until the end of April, but the pressure’s on Tautou to trump Shirley.
